On Friday 16th of June, we kick off Q-Con with our fifth Q-Con Comedy night. Headlined by the fantastic ROB DEERING, with support from Queen’s very own MATTHEW COLLINS and compere extraordinaire COLIN MURPHY.
They’ll make you laugh, question your life choices, and laugh again as the good nature of the convention begins! Q-Con is set to take place on June 16th – 18th 2017 in Queen’s University Belfast Students’ Union. Weekend tickets are from £17 + booking fee.
Rob performs stand-up comedy with music, using a guitar, a loop pedal and his voice to create impressive rock and pop soundscapes – and do jokes, of course. Along with being one of the most in-demand headliners on the UK circuit, he’s toured nationally and performed solo shows at the Edinburgh Fringe many times since starting out in comedy in the year 2000. His late-night, live-music comedy pop quiz Beat This is a festival institution, on London’s South Bank, at Wales’ Green Man and many more besides Edinburgh.
Irish comedian Matthew, has been described as an 'internet expert' and a 'real-life computer nerd', when he was the keyboard wizard on BBC NI and Radio 4's Great Unanswered Questions, as well as a 'beardy weirdy' in everyday life. Brace yourselves for some Rubik's Cubes, big words, French grammar and some mathematics. Something for everyone, or at least the geeks.
One of Northern Ireland’s finest comedians, Colin is a roguish, loveable comedian whose blend of satire, observational comedy and razor sharp wit, make him a highly sought-after performer. He’s played sell out shows throughout Ireland and at the biggest and best comedy festivals around the world including Edinburgh, Melbourne and of course Kilkenny Cat Laughs. On the BBC he is back as a regular panellist on topical news show The Blame Game. Also known for Colin Murphy’s Great Unanswered Questions, (BBC Radio Ulster and BBC Radio 4).
Tickets for the comedy are always in high demand, so be sure to grab some advance tickets on the day for guaranteed entry. Tickets for individual events will be available from registration. Times for advance ticket availability will be announced closer to the event. Keep an eye on Facebook and the Q-con Webpage.
Last year over 5,500 attendees packed the Students’ Union building as well as the nearby Elmwood Hall and Whitla Hall. Once again, the event is expected to be a sell-out and attendees are encouraged to pre-register online to avoid disappointment.
